The Best Defense is an Offense – How Vaccines Keep us In the Game

Touchdowns, field goals, cheering on your favourite team! With the fun of the football seasons comes the beginning of the respiratory season – when Flu and COVID-19 make their aggressive push down the field. This football season, don’t let opponents sideline you. Your best offensive play? Getting vaccinated! 

Flu Vaccine

Flu is a contagious opponent that attacks your respiratory system, specifically, the nose, throat and sometimes the lungs. It doesn’t play fair. It targets everyone, but it is hardest on players  with certain health conditions or weakened immune systems.. Each year thousands of people in the United States die from flu, and many more are benched in the hospital. . 

Think of the flu vaccine as your offensive line. It blocks the illness and keeps you off the injury list. Getting the flu vaccine means you stay in the game, cheering from the stands without fumbling the ball to your fellow fans.  

COVID-19 Vaccine

Like a well-timed blitz,, the COVID-19 virus rushes harder during the winter months.The COVID-19 vaccine  is your proven game plan to stop the spread of the virus before it gets to the end zone. Thousands die from COVID-19 every year, making it a serious opponent. Protect yourself by suiting up with vaccination.  

Herd Immunity – The Ultimate Team Play

Every winning team knows that you win or lose together.  When the whole team gets vaccinated, they achieve herd immunity, creating an impenetrable defensive formation that keeps the virus from spreading. Even unvaccinated team members gets protection because the rest of the team stepped up. Rally your fellow fans to get vaccinated. It’s the MVP move for keeping everyone healthy and in the game.
